Take Time to Grieve

for Michael Ching

Time has no dominion over grief,

no say over recovery

nor does it heal anything.

It delays and that is all.

How long til the memories fade?

How long will I grieve?

How long for time to heal?

How long for the pain to leave?

When I stop moving,

when the day ends,

that’s when the tears come,

when the sorrow slips in.

There’s no rhyme or reason.

There’s no time or season.

You left softly at dawn.

The sun has set on everyone.

The cleansing of the heart

is often far too deep.

No one is demanding anything.

It takes time to understand everything.

So, take your time and

let healing happen as it can.

Your friends will wait.

They will understand.
